Cambodian Prime Minister to Open UN-ESCAP’s 80th Session in Bangkok

Phnom Penh, April 18, 2024 – Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, is set to deliver a special address at the high-level opening of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)'s eightieth session next week in Bangkok.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced that the Prime Minister accepted an invitation from Dr. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of ESCAP, to speak at the event scheduled for April 22, 2024.

Joining the Prime Minister will be Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and President of the National Committee for ESCAP; Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications; along with other prominent government officials.

This year’s session, under the theme "Leveraging digital innovation for sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific", will focus on exploring the potential of digital technology. It aims to enhance regional cooperation to tackle emerging global challenges and expedite the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
